Larimer County has adopted fire restrictions for unincorporated areas that are over 6,000 feet in elevation.
The county commissioners unanimously adopted the restrictions Thursday due to increased fire danger with hot weather, lightning strikes and windy, dry conditions and at the recommendation of the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.
The restrictions went into effect at 1 p.m. Thursday and will last until Sept. 2 and apply to unincorporated areas that are over 6,000 feet in elevation. A map of the restricted area is at https://aegis.larimer.gov/.
The area has been under a red flag warning by the National Weather Service and an extreme heat warning was in place Thursday. Plus hot weather, thunderstorms and wind continue in the forecast.
The restrictions prohibit uncontained open fires,
