BREAUX BRIDGE, La. (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge man is facing charges after investigators say he staged a crash on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge.
According to the Louisiana State Police (LSP), troopers arrested William Baker, 34, of Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, Aug. 5, on the charges of staging a motor vehicle crash and filing or maintaining false public records.
The charges stem from an incident on June 24 involving Baker’s vehicle and an 18-wheeler transporting liquid nitrogen gas. It happened around 10 a.m. on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, part of I-10 West, near the intersection with Highway 3177.
According to LSP’s investigation, Baker passed the 18-wheeler in the right lane of I-10, then intentionally straddled the center line and abruptly applied his brakes, despite no vehicles being in fro
