NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The former police chief of Golden Meadow was arrested on accusations he deleted over a decade of police records after losing re-election, according to Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office.

Troy Dufrene, of Golden Meadow, turned himself in at the Lafourche Parish Jail.

The Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI) began investigating after receiving a request for assistance from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, which reported concerns about misconduct involving Dufrene.

Sheriff’s officials told investigators that Dufrene accessed a shared case management system used by both the sheriff’s office and the Golden Meadow Police Department and deleted key data shortly after
