WEST VALLEY CITY — A man was taken into custody Monday after police say he fired a rifle into the air to scare his ex-girlfriend the day before.
A probable cause statement for the incident identified 19-year-old Rafael Gomez Pedroza as the man arrested.
The events began early Sunday morning, the statement said, when a woman went to Pedroza’s residence to pick up her child. She told police that Pedroza was the father, and authorities later determined that was true.
“After picking up her son the victim began driving away from the area in a vehicle along with her friend,” the statement said. “The victim stated that she noticed a vehicle following behind her.”
The statement said the woman pulled over, and the other vehicle pulled in behind. Then, police say Pedroza stepped out of the passe
