A husband and a wife have died and the suspect is critically injured after a shooting and an explosion at a home in western Iowa.

Authorities were called to a neighborhood in Glenwood, a city about 150 miles west of Des Moines near the Nebraska border, for reports of a shooting. Mills County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Wednesday, Aug. 6 incident as an “active shooter situation," according to Omaha TV station WOWT.

Two people were shot in the home and an explosion happened shortly after, Glenwood Police Chief Eric Johansen said in video of a Wednesday night news conference posted to WOWT's site. The explosion subsequently led to a fire.
