The Fresno County Democratic Party has passed a resolution calling for an end to the “genocide” in Gaza, saying its member can no longer ignore the level of death and destruction.

While acknowledging and mourning the Israeli lives lost in the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack, the party believes Israel’s response is disproportionate.

“Israeli forces have targeted schools, hospitals, and food distribution sites, and have continued their blockade of aid and denied any starvation crisis even though health officials have reported 181 hunger-related deaths,” the resolution stated. “UNICEF has warned that a larger number of people, particularly children, are at risk of death due to severe malnutrition and related illnesses due to lack of food, clean water, and access to healthcare.
