The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Queens man for an Assault that occurred on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 9:15 a.m. in Franklin Square. According to detectives, Fifth Precinct officers responded to Deli Santaneca located at 974 Hempstead Turnpike for a larceny in progress. Upon arrival officers were met by a 60-year-old employee who stated that a male subject took merchandise and proceeded to exit the store without making payment. The employee was able to point out defendant Jerome Washington, 59, of 7925 Winchester Boulevard who was standing outside nearby on Hempstead Turnpike. Officers walked over and approach defendant Washington who immediately became aggressive and refused the officers verbal commands. The situation escalated and two officers sustained injurie
