Stratford Rotary Dragon Boat Festival chair said it's becoming increasingly likely this year's event will have to move to a new location or even be cancelled.

With Lake Victoria still at very low levels, the Stratford Rotary Dragon Boat Festival chair said it’s becoming increasingly likely this year’s event will have to move to a new location or even be cancelled.

The event, currently set for Sept. 13, was expected to draw more than 40 teams to Stratford for 30-plus races across the lake.

“(Cancellation is) something that we’re (considering) right now because we need a certain number of teams to cover our costs, and I don’t want to take sponsorship money to subsidize the event,” Robert Ritz said. “The goal of that money was to go straight back to the community.”
