Dr. Michael Flores, a psychologist with Nationwide Children’s Hospital, offers insight to help families navigate this evolving topic.

Dr. Flores recommends an approach that starts with learning how kids use video games or other apps. He uses the acronym “GAME”:

– Get to know the apps your kids use and games they are playing.

– Ask questions, including things like ‘What are they learning from this game?’ and ‘How does it make them feel?’

– Monitor for changes in your child’s behavior, sleep patterns, appetite and academics.
