VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. - Amid high heat, a brush fire broke out near Lake Piru in Ventura County Thursday afternoon.

The roughly 30-acre fire is burning primarily east of Lake Piru in Ventura County but nearing the county line near Val Verde.
