WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WETM)--- More than 200,000 fans are expected to file into Watkins Glen International this weekend, and safety is at the top of concerns.

Security will continuously monitor the area and communicate constantly throughout the event to ensure that everyone is safe.

"We actually have thirty-two different agencies that we contract with, and each agency gives us anywhere from one or two officers to up to eight, and we have quite a few come," said Kevin Rumsey, Schuyler County Sheriff.

Planning for the race takes a lot of time and coordination.

"We prepare every year, it starts with the logistics, getting all the agencies I mentioned on board. Making sure they give us people with the staffing shortages and everything," said Sheriff Rumsey.
