A Moreno Valley city councilmember hopes to make the leap to Sacramento next year.

Republican Ed Delgado on Wednesday, Aug. 6, announced plans to run for California’s 60th Assembly District seat in 2026.

If he advances beyond the June 2026 primary, Delgado likely would face Assemblymember Corey Jackson, D-Moreno Valley, who has represented the 60th since 2022.

“California is at a breaking point. Crime is rising, people are being priced out of their neighborhoods, and politicians in Sacramento are only listening to one side,” Delgado, a councilmember since 2021, said in a news release.

“I’m just a regular guy who’s tired of watching our state get worse instead of better. I’m stepping up to bring back common sense.”
