A Hudson man accused of murdering his mother in 2023 decided not to accept a plea agreement and be sentenced on Thursday and opted for a trial, the state Attorney General’s Office said.
Grant DeGiacomo is charged with “recklessly” causing the death of 57–year-old Christine DeGiacomo at her home on July 5, 2023, “by repeatedly striking her head,” officials said.
DeGiacomo was in Hillsborough County Superior Court South in Nashua on Thursday for a hearing where he could have accepted the plea deal and been sentenced, but instead asked the judge if he could represent himself.
“We are prepared to move forward and are confident that we can prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt,” Assistant AG Camden Bisson said via email Thursday afternoon.
