CHICAGO (WGN) — Anyone who fell in love with playing a sport growing up has envisioned what it might be like to go down as one of its greatest athletes, but what are the actual odds?

The Sports Geek, a website for sportsbooks and casino reviews, researched which states have produced the most Hall of Famers across a number of major sports, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, Soccer, Golf, Boxing, Tennis and even WWE.

When it comes to the State of Illinois, about 6.1 of every one million residents in the state are a sports Hall of Famer, according to Sports Geek's methodology. That equates to about a 1-in-163,934 chance any given Illinoisan can be inducted into one of the nine professional sports Hall of Fames listed in this article.
