LEWISTON, Idaho — Idaho State Police troopers arrested a Washington man on Wednesday, Aug. 7, after he allegedly fired shots at law enforcement and another car while he was driving on U.S. Highway 95.

The driver, identified by police as a 58-year-old man from Sequim, Washington, allegedly fired a shot from a GMC Sierra pickup in Whitman County, Washington, and later shot toward a Washington State Patrol trooper.

A 911 caller in Idaho reported seeing the man wave a handgun from the sunroof of a pickup while driving erratically. The man then allegedly fired at the caller's vehicle near the base of Lewiston Hill.

An Idaho State trooper pulled the man over and took him into custody. The man told police that he had intentionally fired his gun.
