OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - In only nine months, the next election will be held in Douglas County, and already there are rumblings of controversy.
Former Deputy Douglas County Attorney Amy Jacobsen said that 24 hours after she told Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine she planned to run for his office, she was fired.
“So I announced, and in less than 24 hours, he fired me. He, of course, cited other reasons that I don’t think were accurate,” Jacobsen said.
She has been a prosecutor for 33 years, the last 13 in the county attorney’s office.
Jacobsen said she had been a leader in the office and believes there was no reason for her to be removed from her job.
