BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Texas A&M softball star Mya Perez got the unique opportunity this summer to play for the Mexican National team at the Pan American Championship in Colombia.

“I got to learn a little bit more about my culture and just go outside the country for the first time and experience Colombia,” Perez said. “I’m just so blessed that I got the opportunity.”

Perez took a back seat as a pinch hitter for Team Mexico but still shined, earning Player of the Day honors after a grand slam against the Dominican Republic.

“I got put into bases loaded in one of the last innings, and you know, I just took a deep breath and I saw the ball and I hit it. I just did my thing,” Perez explained
