The FBI has reportedly agreed to help track down the Texas Democrats who fled the state to block a vote on redistricting .
Republican Senator John Cornyn said Kash Patel, the bureau’s director, had granted his request for the federal government to assist state police with efforts to find the missing House members.
More than 50 Texas legislators boarded planes and buses out of the state on Sunday, denying the GOP the required numbers to hold a vote on a new redistricting map which could hand the party another five seats.
The Texas House requires 100 members to be present to conduct business, but there are currently only 88 Republicans, with the rest of the members made up of Democrats.
