CHANDLER, Ariz. — A new pickleball facility is scheduled to open in the East Valley next month.
Eighteen new pickleball courts will be unveiled at Tumbleweed Park, located near Germann and McQueen roads, during a ribbon-cutting event on Sept. 6. The facility will additionally include LED lights, practice areas and restrooms.
Since 2018, the City of Chandler has reported adding 10 pickleball courts to existing parks as the sport has become more popular. The additional 18 courts will elevate the city to exceed the national standard of one pickleball court per 12,000 people.
“As pickleball’s popularity has continued to grow, it was clear that Chandler had an opportunity to expand its footprint to accommodate the demand," John Sefton, Chandler's community services director, said in a statem
