COLUMBUS, Ohio — It was a bombshell that’s sent shockwaves through the semiconductor industry and cast new uncertainty over Intel’s much-hyped $28 billion chip plant planned for central Ohio.

On Thursday, President Donald Trump on Truth Social called out Intel’s CEO to step down.

“The CEO of INTEL is highly CONFLICTED and must resign, immediately,” he wrote on Truth Social.

Trump was joined by Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno.

Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel, however, remains publicly confident that the project will come to fruition.

"I'm confident that we will be making chips in central, Ohio," Tressel said.
