GRAND FORKS — It's officially high school football season in Grand Forks.

Both Grand Forks Red River and Grand Forks Central held Day 1 of preseason practices on Thursday morning.

The Roughriders went through drills on the practice field next to Cushman Field, while the Knights were on the field next to Purpur Arena.

Red River will look to replace a loaded senior class that built an 11-1 record in 2024, suffering the team's only loss in the state championship to West Fargo Horace in the Fargodome.

The Roughriders had seven Class AA all-state selections and all seven were seniors, led by three-year starting quarterback Pearce Parks, running back Thomas Kraft and current South Dakota State offensive lineman JB Walters.
