It was history, safety, traffic numbers and a lot of other factors that drew a crowd of concerned residents out to hear details on what might be planned for Chester’s main intersection.

About 200 people filled the town’s multipurpose room on Monday to hear details from the state Department of Transportation on the best options for the intersection of routes 102 and 121.

The discussion was led by Timothy Dunn, project manager with the NHDOT’s Bureau of Highway Design.

Last year, the state installed all-way stop signs at the intersection, an interim way to help improve safety while looking for a more permanent solution.

Other options on the state’s drawing board include traffic signals or a roundabout.
