HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Charges have been filed against a man who, police say, shot and killed his wife in University Place on Wednesday morning and fled the scene.

Ismael Holguin, 35, is charged with murder and evading arrest after the shooting at an apartment complex on Wild Indigo Street near Southwest Freeway at about 3:15 a.m., police said.

Investigators said Holguin's wife, 32, was shot multiple times, including in the face. Officers reported finding the victim unresponsive in the apartment parking lot. She was rushed to the hospital, where police say she died.

After the shooting, Holguin allegedly fled the scene. Authorities said they found Holguin's vehicle in the 15000 block
