Despite his campaign finance setbacks, Mayor Eric Adams is pushing on and returning to his Brooklyn roots for his reelection bid.
On Thursday, he opened his reelection campaign headquarters in Mill Basin while flanked by dozens of supporters.
“We’re here because we know what it takes to run New York City because we’ve seen the mayor do it,” Renee Collymore, Brooklyn borough director for the Adams campaign, said.
“It was the place that shaped and made me. It was the place that taught me the fortitude that I have now to lead this city,” Adams said.
Adams’ political roots are based in Brooklyn, where he served as state senator and borough president for years.
At the opening, Adams seemingly took shots at his rival Zohran Mamdani, taking issue with Mamdani’s free bus and child care progra
