SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Two people are facing drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop in Shelby County on July 31, 2025.
That night, patrol deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office pulled a Jeep Cherokee over for an improper tag.
During the stop, deputies questioned the driver and brought out narcotics K-9 Jerry.
Jerry then alerted the vehicle giving deputies probable cause to search the vehicle.
When they did, authorities say they found a pound of methamphetamine and a trafficking weight of fentanyl inside the vehicle.
Deputies also say the driver attempted to conceal a weapon under the driver’s seat.
Driver Dewayne Holifield and passenger Alexis Moore were taken into custody.
