PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - One man has died and several other people were seriously hurt when an SUV hit two people and then crashed into three vehicles in the King neighborhood on Thursday, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

At about 11:46 a.m., officers responded to a report of a serious crash in the 5900 block of Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. When officers arrived at the scene, they found one man dead and multiple people injured.

Police said a driver in a Ford Escape was heading north on Northeast MLK Jr. Boulevard when the SUV veered onto the sidewalk near the Jerrett Street bus stop and hit two men. A boy was also almost hit.

One of the men died at the scene, and the other was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
