A 40-year-old motorist was seriously injured Thursday when she lost control of her car, possibly while drunk at the wheel, causing it to overturn at a Menifee intersection, where she was hurled onto the roadway.
The crash happened at 12:30 a.m. Thursday at Goetz Road and Goldenrod Avenue, according to the Menifee Police Department.
Agency spokesman Chase Coburn said that the driver, identified only as a Menifee resident, was northbound on Goetz in her Chrysler 300, traveling at an unconfirmed speed, when the car drifted onto the shoulder of the two-lane corridor.
“The vehicle veered back into the road, losing control and rolling over several times, causing the driver to be ejected via the sunroof,” Coburn said. “Alcohol is suspected to have been a contributing factor in the collision.”
