Leaders from the city of Portland and Multnomah County today unveiled a new operations team to improve safety around the Central Library, which has been plagued by violence and drug use, culminating with the alleged murder of Douglas Ivers by a library patron on July 1.

Members of the new seven-member team from the county include library director Annie Lewis, director of workplace security Dorothy Elmore, and interim deputy chief operating officer Stacey Borke. Anne Hill, director of the Public Environment Management Office, will represent the city in bimonthly meetings, along with Portland Police Commander Brian Hughes.
