COLUMBUS, Ohio — Single-use plastics continue to pose a serious environmental challenge across the country, often ending up in landfills and oceans, but one company in Columbus is taking a big step toward changing that trend.

DNO Produce, a company that provides packaged fresh foods for school nutrition programs across 17 states, has been working towards sustainability for several years.

The company’s president, Alex DiNovo, said the push for sustainability for the company comes from his father.

“A lot of his work is involved in conservation — his whole life, that’s been his passion project,” DiNovo said. “So I think a lot of that kind of naturally rubbed off on us as a company.”
