A brush fire broke out Thursday adjacent to the Pomona (60) Freeway in Jurupa Valley, charring 10 acres and approaching homes before crews deployed to the location.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 5 p.m. Thursday in the area of Camino Real and Granite Hill Drive, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a moderate rate to the northeast amid light winds and 105-degree heat.

Firefighters established hose lays in the vicinity of properties in the path of the brusher, and Cal Fire aircraft were requested to make runs on it.

As of 5:20 p.m., evacuation warnings were pending.

The freeway was not impacted, except for motorists slowing to look at the flames.
