SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Police Department has detained a suspect in a fatal stabbing that prompted closures of two downtown bridges on Thursday evening. Spokane Police say 20-year-old Colin Pedro was booked on 2nd Degree Assault (DV), 2nd Degree Assault and 2nd Degree Murder.

Sergeant Teresa Fuller with SPD said officers responded to West Spokane Falls Boulevard for an altercation just before 6:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found one man threatening suicide and another person who was seriously injured.

The suspect then barricaded himself on the Post Street Bridge for nearly four hours. During the incident, officers blocked access to the Post Street Bridge as well as the Monroe Bridge.
