HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- Corydon Civil Defense Fire and Rescue says they've been looking to get a hands-free CPR device for a while. But one of the biggest obstacles in their way is funding.
Bryan Cogill is the Corydon Civil Defense Fire and Rescue Chief. Ideally he would like to see every fire department in the county get one, especially volunteer.
"These Lucas devices are between 27 to 28 thousand dollars a piece which is, for some departments in this county, that is probably 80 to 90% of their yearly budget,” Cogill said. “I would like to see one in every volunteer station in Henderson County"
Volunteer firefighters say resources can be stretched thin, depending on the time of day. And having a lucas device, they say will free hands at a crucial time and save lives. Lieutenant Nick S
