GARLAND, Texas — A 29-year-old Marine and motorcyclist was hospitalized after police said he was hit by a drunk driver Friday night in Garland.

On Aug. 1, Joey Harmon was riding with friends when the crash happened around 9:06 p.m. at the intersection of Rowlett Road and Roan Road. Garland police say the driver of a Tesla Cybertruck struck Harmon’s motorcycle.

“I remember seeing him come over into the lane and flying through the air and everything else,” Harmon said. “From then, it’s just been being in the hospital and trying to heal.”

Harmon suffered major injuries, including an open fracture to his leg and a severe spinal injury.

“Both my tibia and fibula were sticking out of the skin,” he said. “I separated and fractured almost my entire lumbar spine — from L1 down to my pelvis.” Ph
