Gov. Gavin Newsom was critical of settlements by two Ivy League universities reached with the Trump administration to restore grants, suggesting UCLA would take a different route.

On the line is $584 million in federal grant funding that was suspended last week.

The federal government pulled the funds after accusing UCLA of tolerating antisemitism.
