GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Open houses are being held Friday at schools across North Central Florida ahead of next week’s first day of classes.

In Alachua County, school officials are holding a ribbon-cutting Friday at 9 a.m. for Littlewood Elementary after more than a year of renovations.

Students and staff will be in new classrooms after spending last school year in portable classrooms at Westwood Middle.

Last year, TV20 reported the project’s price tag at nearly $37 million.
