DE PERE, Wis. (WBAY) - After a run to the Division 2 state semifinals a season ago, West De Pere is geared up to make a run at the title this time around.
“Guys are hyped,” safety Mason Werner said. “We’re bringing the energy. We’re able to hit a little bit more. Without pads you can’t really hit. It’s not really football. Now we get the pads on, we get to play freely, and just have a good time.”
The Phantoms, who averaged 40.3 points per game last fall, return starting quarterback and South Dakota commit Patrick Greisen. That unit is expected to produce once again. But on Thursday’s practice, the defense seemed to get the better of their offense.
