WHEELING — West Virginia taxpayers have until Oct. 1 to pay their vehicle property taxes if they want to get that money rebated back to them next year.
State residents already should have received their tax bills for the 2025-2026 tax year.
To be eligible for the Motor Vehicle Property Tax Adjustment Credit, the taxpayer must pay the first half of the bill by Oct. 1. The taxpayer then will see money paid toward the bill rebated on their 2025 state income tax return — along with any vehicle property tax paid on the second half of their 2024-2025 tax bill if it were paid on time last spring.
The second half of the vehicle tax bill for 2025-2026 is due April 1, 2026, but the bill can be paid in full now for the taxpayer to receive credit.
