EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - With eight running backs on the Michigan State roster, players will be fighting for their spot on the depth chart, and coaches are eager to see how each back performs in this weeks scrimmage.
While the starting spot for any position is always sought after, Michigan State running backs coach Keith Bhonapha says they are looking to utilize a "multi-back" system this upcoming season.
Bhonapha explained during a press conference on Thursday, following fall camp practice, that the team was leaning more towards this style in order to better wear down defenses in the second half of games, as well as keeping players healthy.
