Mariah Carey has gone for viral for her candid response to the news that Katy Perry went to space.

Six women, including the Firework hitmaker and Gayle King, made history in April when they reached space aboard Amazon founder Jeff Bezos's rocket as part of the Blue Origin NS-13 mission.

The flight has proved controversial, and during a recent appearance on BBC Radio 2's The Scott Mills Breakfast Show, host Scott asked Mariah whether she would ever "fancy" going to space.

"Did she go to space?" the Believe singer asked.

After the presenter confirmed Katy boarded the flight, Mariah responded, "Where'd she go?"

An off-camera crew member then shouted out, "Just into orbit and back".

"Into orbit and back? She was, like, floating in the... and this is true?" the superstar queried, to which Scott replied, "Yeah, I have not made this up. This is true."

"Wow. Alright Katy," a seemingly shocked Mariah mused, adding: "I'm not mad at her. That's pretty amazing."

Scott then joked that Katy hasn't stopped talking about the 11-minute voyage.

"But it happened. Would you do it?" he pressed, with the 56-year-old humorously quipping: "I think I've done enough."

The clip quickly racked up over 38,000 likes on Instagram and generated a lot of praise in the comments section.

"Seems like someone else went to space," joked Chelsea Handler, while Kerry Washington gushed, "I think I've done enough!!!!! AMEN."

Mariah is currently promoting her sixteenth studio album, Here for It All. The project is set to drop on 26 September.
