Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to fully occupy Gaza has been approved by Israel’s security cabinet.

In an interview on Thursday afternoon, the Israeli prime minister said ordering troops into the remaining 25 per cent of the enclave not currently controlled by the IDF, was the only way to ensure Israel’s security and finally wipe out Hamas.

“The Security Cabinet has approved the Prime Minister’s proposal for the defeat of Hamas,” Mr Netanyahu’s office said in a statement on Friday.

“The IDF will prepare for the takeover of Gaza City while ensuring the provision of humanitarian aid to the civilian population outside the combat zones.”
