JONESBORO — For Lexie Brenton, the moment she knew she had to act came during her court experience in 2022. That moment then led to the creation of the Buddy System, a volunteer initiative created to support survivors of domestic violence through what can be a traumatic legal process.

“I had to file a protective order in the same courtroom that the people who are going to utilize this resource are going to be in themselves,” Brenton said. “While I was there, I noticed there were plenty of people showing up by themselves. And it was already incredibly intimidating for me – and I had support.” kAmx? E96 DA2? @7 ;FDE EH@ H66<D[ qC6?E@?
