The drive through the construction in Clifton on U.S. Highway 6 will be a bit smoother going forward as traffic has been moved to a recently completed concrete pavement on the south side of the roadway.

Colorado Department of Transportation Grand Junction Resident Engineer Kaity Clark said traffic was moved to the south side of the road on Thursday and preparations are beginning to construct the new concrete roadway on the northern side of the road between First and Fifth streets.

“Most of the work west of the First Street roundabout has been completed,” Clark said. “Our contractor recently completed all the subsurface utility work on the project, including the installation of storm drainage infrastructure, water line and irrigation improvements.
