The Grand Mesa Nordic Council plans to hold a public groundbreaking ceremony as it starts construction on its first permanent building today Aug. 8 near the Skyway Trailhead parking lot on Grand Mesa.
Once complete, the roughly $1.6 million Skyway Station will provide a gathering space, warming hut and equipment storage area at the trailhead area. GMNC representatives said it marks a major step forward for the group that maintains 31 miles of cross-country ski trails on Grand Mesa.
