After 53 years of writing about the outdoors in Kentucky I have decided to retire.

I would like to thank the Clabes family for the opportunity to write for them on a weekly basis, first in Kentucky Forward, and in recent years in the The Northern Kentucky Tribune. I started contributing to the Clabes family publications in 2013.

They gave me the opportunity to write on a wide range of topics of my own choosing. I probably have written more than 550 articles through the years. Topics have included Kentucky’s diverse fish and wildlife species and their habitats, native trees, snakes, turtles, nesting birds, invasive and non-native species, and our state’s proud heritage of quality fishing and hunting, and the renowned natural resource management by biologists of the Kentucky Department of
