The Steamship Authority (SSA) on Tuesday , August 5, approved Boston-based consulting firm, Gibbous LLC, to manage the SSA’s reservation system replacement project.

Last December, the SSA put out a request for responses for the project. This June, E-Dea SPA, of Naples, Italy, was awarded the projects. The five-year contract, which will cost $5,779,484, aims to address online glitches, crashes and other technical difficulties the SSA has faced in the last couple years when summer reservations opens, a result of high volume of users on the site at one time. The system overhaul will have phases rolling out starting this year and full software implementation is expected to happen toward the end of 2026.
