Police in Balaka District have arrested Syless Stephano, 33, on suspicion of possessing various prescription drugs without a license.

Mr. Stephano was arrested on Thursday at the Phombeya checkpoint.

Balaka District Police spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha said some people informed the police at the checkpoint that the suspect was carrying the drugs on his motorbike and was headed to sell them at the Phalula market.

During a search, Mr. Stephano was found in possession of several prescription drugs, including Bactrim, Gentamycin, Indocid, contraceptive pills, Amoxicillin, Cipro, Benzylpenicillin, Vitamin B, LA (Lumefantrine-Artemether), ARVs, Aspirin, and others.
