Just hours before Rushanara Ali resigned as homelessness minister, her loyal colleague Rachel Reeves was on the airwaves defending her actions and even insisting she “[didn’t] understand” the scrutiny. Has the Chancellor read her own party’s Renters’ Rights Bill?

Reeves said:

“I don’t know the details, but Rushanara Ali seems to have done everything in accordance with the law, and I really don’t understand why the Conservatives are calling for that.”
