More than 113 secondary school teachers, who were recently promoted from primary schools, are planning to stage a protest at Capital Hill, the government headquarters, next week.
The teachers are demanding that the government pay their July salaries, which they claim have not been deposited into their bank accounts. They issued a one-week ultimatum to the government to resolve the issue—a deadline that ends tomorrow—but say they have received no response or payment.
Speaking out, the teachers expressed frustration, saying they are in distress and unable to meet their daily needs due to the salary delay.
“If the government does not pay us our new salaries, we will hold a peaceful protest at Capital Hill in Lilongwe to demand our dues,” said one of the affected teachers.
