Using water drops from a department helicopter as well as a coordinated ground attack, Los Angeles Fire Department personnel extinguished a brush fire early this morning in Elysian Park.

Fire crews responded at approximately 1:40 a.m. Wednesday to the Buena Vista Meadow Picnic Area where they found the 50' x 100' area where the flames had burned earlier, said LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey.

No evacuations were needed, no structures were burned and no injuries were reported, Humphrey said.

LAFD crews remained on scene to cool hot spots.
