Hotel woes

East Hollywood: It’s tough times for the Hollywood Hotel at the corner of Vermont and Lexington Avenues — between the Trump administration’s trade policies, and a city policy increasing wages for hotel workers to $30 an hour over the next three years. The New York Times focuses on the latter, visiting with hotel owner Jeff Zarrinnam and discussing his struggles to balance wages and revenue at the 131-room establishment. ā€œI understand when people want better wages,ā€ said Zarrinnam, who has owned the hotel for more than 30 years. ā€œBut at the same time I am a hotelier and you have to have stability, and raising the minimum wage every year hurts that stability.ā€
